The Struggle is ALSO Real…With the Camper

3/14/24 SOLSC Day 14

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push fob to start”)

What is that noise? “Click, click” is what the motor did. It’s supposed to start up with a diesel roar! I remembered to put my foot on the brake before pushing the start button… Click, click.

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push fob to start”)

What are our battery levels? Ok, maybe a little low for the engine battery. Let’s start the generator, charge the batteries a bit, and try again…. Click, click.

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push fob to start”)

What does the message flashing on the dash mean? “Push fob to start” We look over the key fob for a button to push. We thought it was the little silver button, but that is how you take part of the fob apart. Click click.

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push fob to start”)

Does that mean the key fob battery is dead? We have the right size battery in the coach, so let’s carefully pull the fob apart, and change the battery. Click click.

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push fob to start”)

Do any of the groups we belong to have any threads about this issue? Hunting on the phone brought some comments about the key fob and the engine not starting. Hurray!

When given directions, you should probably follow them. (“Push key fob to start”) Literally. PUSH THE FOB TO THE START BUTTON.

Geez.

Literally. After being dumbstruck, I started to giggle.
I needed some peaceful memories after that experience!

  1. I loved the repetition of the directions; it made me chuckle. I have an old car, so I still turn a key to start, but my husband’s Rogue is a push button. Sometimes when I use his car I have to sit and orient myself all over again. My biggest worry is forgetting to push the fab to turn it off!

  2. This did make me laugh because the same thing happened to me. It took me a while to realize I needed to actually have the fob make contact with the start button to get the cat going. They didn’t tell me that when I bought the car.

  3. The repetition of the direction was great, particularly as you got closer to the end and you described doing all the things with the fob that I would have done……at first, I imagined the refrain to signify that you hadn’t done anything with the fob, then I realized that there was something tricky going on, and finally I understood–when you explained it–how I had been misunderstanding the directions the whole time. What a great way to bring the readers along with you!
