3/18/24 SOLSC Day 18
There are multiple reasons why we can’t take our two adorable cats with us in the camper. We tried – it did not go well. Let’s just say one is extremely skittish and spent the entire time under furniture, not eating, drinking or peeing. The other is blind, and although she can be the more adventurous of the two, she needs the predictability of her surroundings.
So, the cats will stay home. Luckily we have a crew to take care of them. Two of our crew have taken care of them in the past, so they have some familiarity of what needs to be done for a short trip (like a week or so).
We will be gone for MONTHS. So we wrote four full pages of notes on everything from cutting their nails to shaking down the litter robot. We also included throwing some cleaner in the toilets every few weeks, which is the extent of the cleaning we are asking our crew to do. Other than asking them to clean up the occasional hair ball or scarf-n-barf pile, we will do the rest when we return.
The cat’s water fountain has its own slideshow to accompany the document with the steps on how to take apart, clean and reassemble the fountain. I kid you not.
We also made a google calendar that we are sharing with the team members. We have dates when members are NOT available as well as certain tasks that need to be done every few weeks.
The hardest part of our trip will be not being home with them. Luckily we know our Cat Care Crew will love on the cats while we are gone. That’s why they are a member of our crew.
We are surely gonna miss these adorable faces!
I understand the need to make sure your furbabies are taken care of while you are gone. Sounds like you have a detailed list of what needs to be done when so their caregivers have no guesswork. You are lucky to have the help.

I always wonder about the cats I see on RV instagram reels … I can’t imagine my Talula wanting to come with us on a road trip … but I guess there must be some cats who like to travel! I love that you have this all planned out and organized (of course you do!) It’s always hard to leave the fur babies —— but it really sounds like you have it all worked out and they will be loved and well-taken care of!

They’re so cute snuggled together! I know it will be hard to be away from them, but it sounds like you have all their needs fully taken care of. How wonderful to have a cat crew you can count on to care for them!
